Why cars are so expensive in Norway:

Weight-tax
First 1.150 kg $5 pr kg
Next 250 kg $10 pr kg
Next 100 kg $20 pr kg
Over 1.500 kilo $25 pr kg

CCM-tax
First 1.200 ccm $1.5 pr ccm
Next 600 ccm $4 pr ccm
Next 400 ccm $9 pr ccm
Over 2.200 ccm $12 pr ccm

kW-tax
First 65 kW (88 hk) $20 pr kW
Next 25 kW (34 hk) $74 pr kW
Next 40 kW (54 hk) $147 pr kW
Over 130 kW (176 hk) $250 pr kW

In additon to that there is Sales-tax (25% of what you gave for it)
And $200 (you get those back when/if you scrap it)

The only thing you can subtract is if the car is bought used:
0,5 year 12 % 9 year 63 %
1 year 17 % 10 year 67 %
2 year 30 % 11 year 70 %
4 year 42 % 12 year 73 %
5 year 45 % 13 year 76 %
6 year 50 % 14 year 78 %
7 year 55 % 15 - 30 year 80 %
8 year 59 %

I would start by draining the transaxil fluid and inspecting it for metal and other solids. How much fluid do you recover (is it low due to a leak?)

if you do not see any metal bits and the volume is obviously low I would refill with a good oil like redline MT90 and see if that sorts the issue.

if you are not leaking and the fluid "looks" fine then it could be clutch, gearbox or both

questions

with the car OFF can you move the stick into various gears with and with out the clutch?

does the clutch pedal feel normal or is it stiff or loose?

if you can get the car into first and you have fresh fluid try to start it and drive from 1-2 if the same thing happens or you hear horrible sounds in first then your gears and or syncros are toast. Try reverse that should work and you can see if your clutch is ok or not based on how that feels.
Thanks alot!!

When the car is off, I can move into all the gears fin both with and without the clutch. And the clutch feels normal. (when it stalled i was standing downhill and was unable to get it out of gear then even with the clutch)
I'll get my car towed back home tomorrow, and i'll inspect it over the weekend.

I could turn the car on OK, but as soon as I tried to lift the clutch the engine stalled agian and the car only bounced alittle but didnt budge.
Curious about how you made out on this,,,.. When I saw your post, was thinking maybe it was something simple like the slave cylinder and not as catostrophc as you feared

WerGis, you may not find this objective, but when something gives me as much pain & anxiety as your MINI has caused you, I get some measure of relief by beating on it with a hammer, then setting it on fire... It won't solve your problems, but it sure feels good...

Too expensive.

Time for a bicycle and/or public transportation.

Sorry to hear about your problems.

Not all older MINIs are that way.

My old 2003 Cooper S with 70K miles playing in the dirt yesterday.

You'll get 17.000 $ if you sell it? If I were to sell my Mini in Norway (I'm also norwegian) today I would get 25-30.000 $! Mine works though...

Første gang jeg ser en nordmann her! Har du modifisert Minien din noe?
(English: This is the first time I see another norwegian on the forum. Have you done any modifications to your Mini?)
