Just recently picked up an '06 Cooper after an 8 year absence. (We had an '02 Cooper S)

I noticed my Cooper has the little button on the left / turn signal stalk that will cycle it through the temperature and vehicle speed, but none of the cool bits that our Cooper S had. Do they ship the cars with all the fancy trip computer stuff ready, but not enabled? My thinking was if they do someone has probably figured out how to enable it in the cars that weren't shipped with it.

I apologize if this has been brought up before. In my (quick) searching I couldn't find anything specific.

The dealer can go in and reprogram/retrofit the OBC function.
