or the only way to post pictures on this forum is from a site on the internet, or can I post a picture from my hard drive as a location c:my pictures/mini/dsc001, something like that.

If the picture is MINI related you can upload the picture to the NAM Member MINIs Gallery click [add photos] to start the process of uploading the pics from your hard drive.

You have to have your picture somewhere on the internet. There are a bunch of free servers and you can uplost the pic there and then link to it on NAM.

Something like this:
