R50/53 MINI on "The Simpsons"?
Just finished watching "The Simpsons", and it looks like the family is headed to England in next week's episode. It also looks like they'll be driving a Chili Red MINI with a white roof. I just saw it for a second, so I could be wrong, but it looked alot like the family was motoring around London in a MINI. We'll have to wait a week and see for sure...

How "cute"! (Just a reference to the thread about people calling it cute.) I missed the Simpsons tonight but rarely do. I will make a special note to check it out next week and thanks for the tip. Even if it is a Smart and not a MC, Homer in England. Wow, the ultimate ugly American. He'll think the beer is bad but will probably like the chips better than ours.
I believe this sums it up:
The Regina Monologues (#EABF22 / SI-1422) 23 Nov 2003
Mr. Burns loses a thousand-dollar bill that is quickly turned into the main display at the Museum of Modern Bart. After Burns shows up to reclaim his money, Bart realizes he still earned enough from charging admission to take the Simpsons to England. When they arrive, Marge begs Homer to make this an incident-free trip, which he actually succeeds at until he accidentally runs into the Queen. Now the only thing that will earn Homer a stay of execution is whether he can uncover the plot to poison her majesty. Meanwhile, Bart befriends Prince William. Guest stars Ian McKellan, J.K. Rowling, Jane Leeves, and Prime Minister Tony Blair.

I saw that as well and am lookig forward to it...
Thinking about it, it would be a pain to have to switch to flicking people off with the right hand...I mean, just when you get really good at something you have to change your style...poor Homer...
I don't know how many left hand drivers here have actually tried to drive a right hand drive...but let me tell you, it was though. I tried when I was 17. I went to London (driving age there is 17) and tried. First of all I got all excited and went to the passenger side (when I'd been doing it the other way around. The "passenger" almost faited about 3 times because of how close I was getting to cars parked on the right side of the street...it was crazy...

This will make the second Simpsons episode with a MINI in it. In the episode where Moe becomes a town hero for saving Maggie's life, there was a fleeting scene where Homer is getting into his car at a mall parking lot, a MINI in the space next to him.
I've driven in the UK for 3 weeks in 2003, 3 weeks this past sept in South Africa. Probably logged around 1,500mi RHD so far. The first 100-200mi were difficult, I still have to think about turns and such. But I always remind myself "keep left". For me, shifting wasn't hard at all, I think being left handed helps.
Remember, the steering wheel is reversed, but so is the direction- so it's somewhat relative. It just takes some practice, you'll get the hang on it
Roundabouts, tho, get dicey in traffic. But oh well. The only thing I'm really bad at (still) is parallel parking on a right hand drive. Is cake for my in LHD (NYC, Antwerp, Chicago, whatever).
Now I also piloted a Holden Monaro last summer for a few hours in Detroit (RHD), that was not fun. Lane changes required double checks, merging was interesting too...
