R50/53 MINI or Pontiac Aztec?
I'm torn between the MINI and this fine machine from Pontiac. Please advise.

Okay, just a gag, I see so many posts like this but it's a BMW or similar high end
road burner. I thought this would make for a laugh.
Who buys Aztec's anyway? Probably not a MINI owner.

Also, don't plan on being able to see while driving either. My wife got stuck with one as a rental a few months back and she hated it. You can see nothing out the back "window", all the guages are in wierd places and hard to see and there are huge blind spots up front caused by the design of the A-pillars, dash
and hood.

Your title had me going, white_knuckles. It's always odd when people post such "which should I" questions on a Mini owners' website. It's a bit like going into a pub in England and asking "which is better, a pint of your own bitter or Grain Belt?" Then again, last time I was in London I was dumbstruck to find that U.S. import budweiser was trendy.
really tough one. I think that the mini is nice, but the Aztec just has that SEXY hunchback thing going...
haha, that aztec is really poor. I will tell you, though, who buys them: people that need a reliable car with lots of space for CHEAP. these things are so heavily discounted that they even had my dad looking for while... He soon realized eactly how nasty that thing is and forgot about it.
But seriously, it looks like it has spinal problems and is all bent over like a old grandmother...

Asstek is what the GM styling people call it. Had a rental myself also in Canada,
good for bikes/gear... Huge discounts...
The bad, looks, looks (did I mention the looks), styling, engine, fuel economy, resale...
If your going that direction, check out a Vibe. Costs less, not my fav styling, but tolerable. + toyota innards
while were on ugly vehicles:
Fiat Multipla
but they don't sell em in the U.S. Tho at least it drives ok... European market only...

yes those are nasty. I've seen them around here in paris. as cabs sometimes. no idea how they drive. im not supposed to drive while abroad for the year, its KILLING ME! i really want to rent a mini and whip around the countryside!
I doubt I will buy American for quite awhile. The build quality is just not there. The designers must have graduated from Sally Struthers' comercials. And having owned a Pontiac (5 liter TA whose engine died on the 1st day of ownership) I can honestly say that I will probably never own one again.
That said, there are SOME decent american designed cars. The viper is very cool, and it definitely says 'I'm American.' The Crossfire has some good front end design, although they ran out of ideas at around the rear door pilar.
Our automakers tend to come up with grand, tempting, beautifully designed concept vehicles, only to shove them away somewhere never to see daylight again. Has anyone seen the Buick Bengal? Stunning piece of design work. If that car is ever produced looking like the concept looks, American design might make a comeback. But as it stands now, American auto designs are just plain drab. :???:
