R50/53 Potential Mini Buyer with loads of questions
>>This is actually an interesting point... I remember reading on threads in the past that the sport seats aren't too comfy if you are on the short side. I'm 5'4, long legs, short torso... so I am not sure if that is for me.
I am short, too- and i love the sport seats. it's great on my back. Try them out in a test drive first, of course.
Good luck.
Welcome to NAM Jenny!
The only option I think should be standard is the multi-function steering wheel, the included cruise control is a "must have" for me, and the radio controls are very convenient and safe. The sport seats are very nice, but I would suggest driving in both to see which will fit your figure and lifestyle better. The Sport seats hold you in better, but are tougher to climb in and out of.
Do you have a color configuration lined up yet?
There are so many beautiful combinations, it might take a while to decide on what fits you best
Cheers,
Ryan

Jenny, for info on all things MINI and Houston, check out metroplexmini. Lot's of cool owners...and pretty smart folks, too!
I live in north Texas and my MA recommended three options based on his driving a demo Cooper (...and that during the Texas summer.). He recommended: 1) sport seats (he liked the back support), 2) cloth seats (heat/sweat issue), and 3) leather steering wheel (feels great at a point of constant contact with the car...he said stock felt "cold"
. I'm not sure all these can still be had separately.
Whatever you get, take your time deciding so your MINI is uniquely yours...just the way you want it....especially if you're ordering from the factory. I had a goal of keeping costs from spiraling so I was very selective about options based on how and where I drive. MINIs are hard to beat for sheer motoring pleasure!!!
Best wishes on your move!!!

Something I took to doing very soon after getting used to my MINI is that I always push the seat all the way back before I get out of the car, making the entry and exit much easier. I've grown to like adjusting my driving position each time before I set out. It's also much easier to reach back for the seat belt w/ the seat all the way back. I belt up and then slide forward 'till it feels just right before heading off.

I grew up in a rural area where you needed a car, and my parents strongly believed that teenagers shouldn't have their own car... so I had to drive theirs whenever they were available. (HUGE GIGANTIC Chevy wagon and teeny Dodge Colt... I perferred the colt because it was a stick.) Since then, I've lived in 2 cities with amazing public transportation (Montreal & NYC) so I've rented a car whenever I needed one. I am pretty psyched about acquiring a beeeuuutiful MiniCooper.

Another question now that I've thought of it. A friend told me that not having had an insurance policy on a car for 5 years will make my policy go through the roof. Can anyone comment? I will be 30 (F), perfect driving record. Thanks!
