R50/53 Car Alarms
I've got the AudioVox Pursuit- $299 installed. Works w/ the MINI remote, as well as the key in the door. Has an audible signal to go w/ the lights flashing for both arming and disarming. For an extra $100, you can ad the proximity alarm as well. Cheaper than the factory system, though you don't get the lighted control stalk on the steering column, you get a blinking LED on the dash. I like it very much.
I got a Clifford 7000 alarm for about $299 with separate ignition and starter cutoffs. Two remote controls and multiple levels of proximity alarms. I think they have a newer version out already. I can also use the regular key control but the aftermarket ones are better.

What part of the country are you in? I got a Hofco alarm, that works off my key. Similar to the Audiovox Pursuit. Cost $195 installed. Works just like Factory except it beeps on arm and disarm. I could get the lighted stalk for about $80 and hook it up if I really wanted to.

I have a "recovery system". Alarms go off and no one pays any attention (at least her in San Diego area). When i park i push a button and if the car is moved (approximately 1/4 mile) I get a call on my cell phone (you have a choice where and how to be notified (e-mail phone or both) and it tells what 100 block the vehicle is in, on what road, city, zip code, direction of travel and speed.
you can also find your car on the internet: location and speed.
soon to be on the sponsor directory.
this system shows you a map of the location on the internet if the vehicle is in Canada, USA, or Mexico. Other places in the world it gives you longitude and latitude.

Who makes this system? It sounds pretty cool. Also, how much does it cost? Is there a recurring fee, or is it just the purchase and installation?
