Help Me Diagnose Burning Smell

Twice in the past couple of weeks I've noticed a burning smell in the engine compartment after a drive in my '02 Cooper. I can't find the source, but, in truth, I really don't know where to look.

Can one of you help with some possible culprits. Thanks.

You need to tell us a little more about the smell, does it smell like rubber?
Also try placing a Large white towel under the car after you drive it, leave it there a while and see if you find any spots on it, the color of the spots if any can help determine what if anything is leaking, also mark the towel as to front and side cause that can help determine were the leak is coming from.
