My driver side low-beam xenon went out. I replaced the bulb,but it only works sometimes. I guess I have either a bad ignitor or control unit. The price is sort of expensive for a whole headlight unit, especially after paying $150 for the bulb a few weeks ago. I was wondering if their was a lower wattage high-beam bulb I could install to replace the high-beams instead of having to fork out the money for the whole unit

 

Putting in a lower wattage bulb in the high beam is not the same as the low beam. The high beams have a totally different light pattern, wider and higher. Even with a lower wattage bulb it would still throw a lot of glare into the eyes of oncoming traffic.

I think that you will have to have the problem diagnosed and properly fixed. Don't throw out the original bulb as it might not have been the problem to start with.

 

Your going to have to buy a complete headlight. I've seen several of them go bad. I might even have a used one. shoot me an email.
