haha Turbo. What dummies....

Either its a scam, or the seller just missed putting a '2' in front of the 8950. Either way, the seller is a dummy for not reading his ad over again.

Scam.........

Vehicle's photo was taken in a used car lot when they were closed on a Sunday..........Auction was put on eBay on Sunday as well, and is listed as a private sale.......? License plate affixed is photo shopped out ? Exterior color listed as Gray ?

It reeks IMO.

Its not a MINI GP VIN Number either....comes back as DOHC 16 V !

it wouldn't be the 1st MINI we've seen on a used lot where the lot owner didn't know what they had in hand.

They don't even list the GP# or show a pic of it. You can't sell cars on Sundays in IL, but the lot owner could have listed it and taken the pics on a Sunday. It's not in the best of Southside Chicago areas, but it could be a good deal, just don't send money till you know it's really there. If I had the time I'd go look at it for fun, but it's 90 mins south of me without traffic. If a NAM member is really looking at it PM me and I'll get down there for you.

Yeah...there is no way thats not a scam. People don't buy a GP and not know what it's worth.....that would have been like buying a Plymouth Superbird and using it for a demo-derby car! The two just don't add up at all. Just somebody trying to get some free money!

Based on the sellers history it's definitely a stolen account. Still happens all the time despite Ebay's best efforts to curb it. I've had past accounts breached and used to list cars and motorcycles as well.

Warning warning

This is so much a scam beware

Number one he lists his buy it now price even thou there is no buy it now button
#2 he lists his email in the add hoping you will contact him outside of ebay

He will claim to end the sale due to a buyer but the buyer backed out due to lack of funds ... So you can buy the car for the buy it now price
They will send you a very legit looking ebay invoice with a warrenty and all
The catch will be the ebay invoice will ask you to pay with moneygram
Ebay owns paypal why would they use any other service ?
Third the invoice will not show up on your ebay account messages

Almost fell for this same scam on a classic Mini
...
Remember if if the deal is too good to be true ......

Ebay GP-bdhn6iq-mk-kgrhqmh-dmequrtms7sbk3ecqjtjg-_12.jpg

Ebay GP-bdhn20qbwk-kgrhqqh-eyequvlesyubk3ecdt4vg-_12.jpg

The auction was revised many times including the description, the buy it now options which the seller/poster had benn removed but left a buy it now price in their description.

I sent the owner of the account a message lastnight. Maybe they received my question and found that their account was hi-jacked.

Was a sweet looking GP though

Yep it's a scam. I used the Ebay "ask a ?" before it was taken down last night to ask them if I could come see it and got this email in the middle of the night from the seller. Classic email.

"Hello there,
Thank you for your interest in my 2006 MINI Cooper S. I want you to know that I closed my auction earlier because someone offered me the buy it now price, but didn't have all the money available, I cannot accept financing. The price I want to obtain for the car is $8,950 US (this price includes shipping and insurance charges).
The car is like new, completely working, perfect running condition, with no hidden damages or accidents,it has always been garage kept, low miles, non-smoker no flood or storms. It is a US model with US specs and passed the US test emissions. It will be as if purchased locally. The car is insured in case of damage and you will receive it to your address in 5 working days . It will come with all the necessary papers (clear title, bill of sale, warranty documents, user's manual, insurance etc). The title is clear and you will be able to register the car in your state without any problems.
I am requesting a $4,450 refundable deposit at the beginning of the shipping and the balance to be paid after delivery and inspection. If you are
not 100% content with the car you will be able to ship it back on my expense to get your deposit back. I am sure this will not happen, because it is a state of the art vehicle and you will have no reasons not to be content with it.
We will use eBay Motors as third party. First you will pay the down payment to eBay and you will send the receipt proving your payment to eBay. Please note that eBay will hold your deposit of $4,450 until you will confirm that you received the car and you transferred the title into your name.
If you agree with these terms, please send me your full name, home and shipping address, eBay ID so I can register the transaction with eBay asap.

...waiting for your fast answer, Donna Anderson."

For the same reason people send emails claiming to be the King of XYZ and needs your help to get his money....

There are still many people out there who fall for these scams everyday, I fear every hour of everyday.

Yeah out of sheer curiousity I e-mailed them too....same response! Well at least one of these people was stopped before somebody got burned bad by this scam! The funny thing is that the email account that we got the response from is different than the one that they sent a response from. I'd guess that they are just trying to jump around a lot. Makes ya wonder how often these people get away with crap like this!

Good cyber-cop work ChipG !

If you had not posted this auction, someone would be out about 5k bucks.

They apparently kept the bids going until there was enough interest, pulls the auction, then would probably attempt a shady deal off an ebay look alike web site / emails.

Wow!!!! A deal of a lifetime!!!!!

I better jump on this deal before someone beats me to it. I always wanted an "ALL WHEEL DRIVE" Mini cooper. I really never knew they made any but I guess they did make at least one. $8,950 is a bargin if I do say so myself. I'm going to send cash so I won't have to wait until my check clears for Donna to send the car to me.
I gotta go now, I gotta get to the Post Office before it closes.
