03 MCS passenger power window failure

it just stopped working...seems the motor froze. anyone know if this is a full assembly that needs to be bought or can u get just the motor. when i hit the switch i here it click...so it has power. but nothing...it's also not dropping that half inch when the door is opened. so im guessing the motor locked. anyone had this issue? car has 28k mi. im in philly area...i looked online for a replacement but im guessing ill have to buy it from mini. was curious if anyone has done the install. doesnt look terriblly difficult...ive done power window motors/assemblies before. just looking for a lil help and or insight. thanks in advance...

Did it on my 2004 two weeks ago. Part about $125 from dealer. It is possible to overhaul the motor (rather than replace it) and get more life out of it, but as removal and reinstallation is not something you want to be doing very often, I opted for a new part. Look for other threads on the DIY steps, like this: http://www.mini2.com/forum/faults-fi...ing-guide.html

My passenger window had the same problem. The motor is located between the two speakers. I hit the panel with my fist and the window operates fine now. Good luck.

Most would agree that thumping the panel between the speakers is a temporary fix; sooner or later, the motor will need attention.

been there

I have this problem from time to time and from time to time either side will do it as well on occasion one of the door locks wont unlock when you hit the button no matter how many times you hit it. I keep trying to lower the window when I get in the car or sometimes turn the car off and back on and it will come back as if nothing happen. Usually it will be good for a month before this temper tantrum shows back up. I just find it as an annoyance. I have had this problem for over a year and a half.
