R50/53 Homelink UGDO and MINI
I didn't like the marks my garage door remote leave on my sunvisor, and I am tired of searching for it on my Euro shelf or in my hot pocket, so I went on http://www.homelink.com to do some research.
Under vehicle availability and BMW, 7 models are listed. One of them is MINI Cooper, with "year" listed as 2004. Under "packaging", nothing is listed right now....... (for other BMW models, it is listed as standard, option, or accessory)
I don't think MINI USA has announced anything yet, but it appears that Johnson Controls has been working on something for MINIs. I guess we'll see something during the 2004 model year.

There is a simple mod you can do to have a 'homemade' equivalent of Homelink in your MINI with a sunroof. By using a cheap momentary switch wired into you remote (easy to do), garnering the courage to pop off the sun roof molding, and drilling a hole in the unused 'cell phone microphone' cover, the mod can be installed in under 30 minutes. I've done it to mine and it looks like it is factory installed. Might be my imagination, but the remote seems to work better (from a farther distance) than it used to.
If you are interested, PM me and I'll find the "how to' instructions and post the link.
