R50/53 Got keyed, rant!
Got keyed, rant!
Over the 4th someone keys the hood, door and quarter panel.
It's going to cost me $100 dollars to get fixed but still.
Why would anyone do this??
It's already at the body shop. I'm just waiting on AAA to come take a look before they get starting repairing the damage.
They gave me a Mazda 3 as a comparable car LOL. Not even close.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. The sad part is there's no rhyme or reason why people do this, some are just showing off for friends, or maybe their broke *** could never afford a MINI and had MINI-envy.
Just another reason why I moved out of the Bay Area years ago! You could never leave even a quarter in your center console and not have your car broken into. With all the headaches of traffic, cost of living, not to mention the
cost of insurance there, I'm glad I live where I live now and don't miss it one single bit. At least where I live now, I don't have to worry about even leaving my car unlocked overnight.
Hope everything works out for ya!

LOL I see your on both forums as well.
Yes sir (I'm on a break from the other one though)...
Somehow, I sensed yours was Barbados Blue, best color IMO.
If they woulda carried it into the 2005MY, mine woulda been Barbados!

If you're trying to say yours is set at $500, that's too high. Lower it for the next time you have a comp claim.
I just looked, Comprehensive and Collision Deductibles are both $500. Is comprehensive andthing that wasnt a collision like say keyed or broken window? do I just pay more a month to make it $100 It says $9 right now next to it. and 20 something for the collision
Comprehensive Coverage is cheap compared to Collision coverage and as you can see, covers things that are generally out of your control.
Collision Coverage is just that. It covers you when you are involved in an accident. So, you do have a lot more control over collision losses. Good drivers have fewer collision claims than bad drivers.
So, I recommend you carry a $100 deductible for Comprehensive. It's not much more expensive than a $500 deductible but considerably less than a $0 deductible. And with as $100 deductible, you can claim most Comp losses where if you have a $500, a lot of those will not even exceed your deductible... in other words, you pay the whole amount.
With Collision Coverage, I generally recommend the $500 deductible. But if you have a good amount of resources at your disposal at all times and you trust your driving abilities, then a $1,000 deductible might be best. Conversely, if you're someone who lives payday to payday and you're... let's say... not such a good driver, then maybe a $100 Collision deductible is best for you. Collision Deductibles really depend on your personal situation.

actually you might want to ask what the difference to go to a zero deductable comp.
Mine was a couple of dollars a year. Paid off with the first windshield replacement.
your experience may vary - all depends on your company and history of course. costs nothing to ask.

Comprehensive Coverage takes care of things like theft, vandalism, flying objects like rocks and ice and other falling objects, door dings, flood, animal strikes, hail, etc.

Next lesson: Liability coverages.
Picked it up today and it's beautiful. They painted the drivers side panel before the door, the hood/scope and the section under the windshield and all the way around to the boot. All the rock ships are gone and its as smooth as a baby's rear end.
I think I'll have a clear bra added to the hood.
The only panels not painted was the roof, drivers door, quarter panel and bumpers.
They want me to bring it back in 5 weeks for another buff job. Hopefully this picture will show up.

Looks nice !
Make sure you wait a bit before you put a clear bra on it... you have to let that new paint cure first. In the meantime, try not to drive it too much and let plenty of distance between you and any cars in front of you. Don't want any stone chips or dings before the clearbra goes on.
