R50/53 Child Car Seats
Child Car Seats
So my 8-month old son is about to out-grow his Chicco KeyFit Car Seat. We just purchased a Britax Marathon for my wife's Jeep Liberty, but now we are looking for a 2nd seat that can pull double-duty in my '03 MCS and my winter ride, a Ford Focus
(yes, I know...don't go there).
I have been looking at the Recaro Signo or Recaro Como, the Combi Coccoro, or the Maxi-Cosi Priori. I really have a thing about needing the seat to not only be safe, but to look good as well, so I am leaning towards the Recaro.
Anyway, I am curious what everyone here is using for their car seats? Any recommendations you might have for a car seat, and probably most important to me...if you have or can snap a photo of your car seat installed in your MINI, and can share it here, that would be great.
Thanks!

I have the Maxi that when necessary I put in the MINI to pick up my 2 year old. It's forward facing and barely fits through the door. 2 door cars are just plain awful for carseats. I'm 6'1" and to get a kid in that rear area is a PITA to me.
I think a more slimlined seat is better. I read that Britax you got is great but bulky as well.
I'm assuming your child is over 20 lbs so you plan on going front facing. My neighbor has Sparco seats in front so he got the baby seat from the back. Not sure how he put the infant in there. Rear facing has got to be even a bigger pain.

My son is 2 and a half years old. He is a very tall/slim toddler for his age (Most people think he is 4 years old).
We have 2 MINIs ('05 MCS and '08 Clubman S). At present, both cars have Britax Frontier seats and they have worked wonderfully for us. before the Frontiers we had Britax Roundabouts and Britax Boulevards. They all fit perfectly fine.
I am 5-10 and putting the kid in and out of the back has never been an issue for me. I actually find 2 door, squared shaped cars like the MINI a lot easier to get in and out of the back than most regular 4 door sedans.
When my son was a baby, I used to load him in and out of the trunk. Yep you heard that right. I loved the stares from people. It worked great while he has riding rear facing (Until he was 1 year old).
