OK-all who chose 17 over 16-are you happy with your decision? Why would 17in be better-keep hearing how 16 are better in every way but see alot of 17s on the Ss...
Ordered the 17 but probably have time to modify

Don't be shocked if this gets moved to the Tires & Wheels forum....
If you come back here and it's gone - go there to find it!!
or you can do like I learned to do and use the [Search] - upper right hand side of your screen. I'd always start a question in the wrong forum and it would get moved. now almost a year later, I think I'm getting better at it!

but to answer your question....

I ordered the Sport Package options without the 17" wheels. I will be perfectly happy with the lighter weight 16" X-Lites and I am confident that with the taller sidewalls the runflats won't seem so harsh on the ride.

I can't say enough about how much better the 16s are. There is such a difference in ride quality, and the weight savings is massive, if you get say the 16" X-lites instead of the 17" S-Lites. Don't waste the money on the 17s!!!

This was a big deal for me too when I ordered my MCS too.. The 17" wheels are indeed beautiful emulating the MiniLites, but cost of replacing the 17" tire is more expensive than the 16" tire. Not only that but the 16" wheel ride quality is better. 16" have a slightly taller profile, thus a better ride. If you are smitten about the looks of the 17", I encourage you to check out the Panasport wheel. (goto panasport website thru google–cant remember URl) These Panasports are a faithful rendition of the MiniLites. Beautiful wheels and extremely light. I hope to own a set someday!

And last but not least, most people who autocross or race wind up going with the 16" or in some cases even swapping out 15" wheels because of the weight savings as mentioned earlier.

Hope this helps.

I’m not going to argue with the folks that have the 16” wheels and tires and like the ride. I got the 17” S Lites with the performance run flats and don’t find the ride to be an issue, but I have been plagued with rattles that may not have shown their ugly face with a bit softer ride. I guess the only way to ever find if the wheel choice was the major culprit would be to compare the two side by side on the same car. I rotated the tires at 5,000 miles and at just a little over 9,000 miles the tires are within a millimeter of the wear bars so the car will need tires when the next rotation comes up at 10K. I had a lot of fun wearing out the tires!
