Fingers crossed this will happen. i hope u guys aernt 2 hard on me as im a newbie. hehe

SYDMINI Gooday,
Aloha and welcome to MCO-
Good to hear from you. Send some pictures our way with some nice australian background.
Besides NOS there is now a turbo kit for the MC- check it out from M7.

A special welcome both because I love Australia and every Australian I've met (I've house some extended visitors from Adelaide) and because it is great to get more international discussions/perspectives going.
As you must already know this is a great site, with fun people, and they are always ready to help. I know firsthand that the "no such thins as a stupid question" rules apply. Yup, some pics from down under would be great!

Ugh. NOS. Barf. Go for the turbo, sure it costs more... but its ALWAYS there. NOS is so hard on your engine (not saying a turbo isn't....)
But yes, before you do anything, be sure your CVT can handle it.

Hey SydMINI. Welcome to MCO. Where did you get your MINI from? I'm gonna be home in Sydney in November and want to drop in to one of the dealerships and see what kind of goodies they have that aren't available in the US.
Colin: Welcome to MCO. I was at a Poker Rally on Sunday @ LB MINI and M7 had two Coopers on display. One had the Turbo and one had the NOS system they sell. The proprietor talked about both a little and it sounds like the NOS system is a very smart one which works to keep your engine from melting. Check them out! Congrats on the purchase. Just make sure that yer MODS don't void yer warranty!
Welcome to the site! Just remember that NOS = bye-bye factory warranty !!!!!!! No way will BMW honor the factory warranty if the main bearings, pistons, head, etc.. fails. You may want to price a new motor from the Mini parts department before you modify it. You may want to pull the factory fresh motor and intall a used salvage yard Mini engine and then modify that one. Just a thought.
G-day Syd,
What part of Australia you from?
My friends are from Perth, and from what I hear, that's Motoring heaven.
If NOS is truely the final goal, and you want to mod your way there, I think you should start by doing things that will get your car ready to handle all that..THEN get into perfomance mods.
One thing that might come in usefull is that you should planout your own "stages" so as not to overlap and pay more A$. Let me try to explain.
If you install a Alta shortshift kit (you have CVT but go with me) you have to remove (slide out) the Exhaust to get to the box. It would therefor make more sense to do the exhaust at the same time as the Shortshift.
Same with Sway bar and lowering springs...

Samawil,
Colin/Sydmini is in Sydney. I'm also from Sydney and have never made it to Perth. It's about the same distance as LA to NY, but with everything between about Iowa and LA being a flat, straight road through a desert. Not the most fun drive you can do.
Colin, how was the dealership? Easy to deal with/talk to?

Inioway, I spent 2 1/2 years on Nebraska, and the stretch of I80 from Lincoln to the Colorado border is much more interesting than the road across trhe Nullabor Desert, or so I've heard.
On a side note, I had a phone interview for a job in Iowa City and was told that they were thinking of changing the state motto of Iowa to "Iowa! It's not that bad."
This was from the woman interviewing me!
I didn't get the job. Maybe because I laughed?
Agro, we have many state jokes and I think our sense of self inferiority is worse than outside image. It doesn't help when national media covering the Presidential caucases get the talking head to stand in a hog lot somewhere with "Live from Des Moines" written at the bottom.
Ah Iowa, lid covering up Missouri, land of cheap housing (except Iowa City where I live), a place to be old, at least our governor wasn't a professional wrestler (soon to be updated...the worst was the one government wanted to put on our license plates, "quality and productivity". Thinking that too subtle, some of us suggested "land of cheap non-union labor" instead. Still rural lands (that are not flat) offer lots of nice backroads for drives.
Whoops, I've kidnapped. Will stop now....
