R50/53 General Maintenance After a Long Road Trip
General Maintenance After a Long Road Trip
Hi I just came back from a 700 miles road trip and I want to know if there is any general check up or maintenance check up I should do.
As always after a long trip the front of the car gets covered with bugs and flies which are quite disgusting. I noticed after I opened up the hood there's this large air filter looking thing (in front of the motor) with lots of bugs caught in the front. I do not know the proper name for this part of the car, but I think the purpose of this part is to catch all the debris when the air gets in to the car from the front.
There's quite of debris and bugs that are stuck to this and I was wondering how I can take this part out to clean it. The way it is palced it seems like I would have to remove the bumper and then get to the filter? Any suggestions/advice would be much much much appreciated!

Bug mess
Did you have fun? So why the flaggelation session trying to maintain a car that operated properly during the trip? Relax and let nature clean up the mess. Nature has a very efficient way of removing arthropods stuck in your AC Condenser, it's facilitated by bacteria and fungi and is called composting. All you should do is spray the part with some water occasionally and let the bacteria do their job. Cleaning the AC condenser with a brush could damage it's fins.
