I have him beat (slightly) in my MINI at 28.5, but with more stop and go city driving than him.

06 MCS. My onboard computer says 26.7mpgs. I've seen as high as 28 average but i was really going easy on it on the freeway. BTW, the only engine mod I have so far is Dinan stage 1 programming.
As mods go, did anyone notice a decrease in mileage after adding an intake? Im thinking of that next.

mpg as expected
if we are doing mainly in-honolulu driving, we get about 27 or 28 mpg. we find that when we supplement our neccesity driving with some out-of-honolulu cruising during lower traffic hours (like visiting his mom, who lives on the north shore), the gas mileage goes up to about 33.
edit: whoops! just realized this was on the 1st gen forum. mea culpa!

12.6 mpg/ but I am on the gas - all the time. I used to think something was wrong with the car (see previous posts), but it was me. The service manager took me out in my '06 MCS JCW, and showed me how to drive like his grandmother. Immediately the mpg shot up to 29. But I don't want to drive my Cooper like that, so I get 12.5.

2006 MC with a manual 5-speed...,, 37.5 combined. But then Kansas City is about the most open-road metropolitain area in the United States. I'm getting north of 450 miles on a tank, but alas a tank of gas costs a whole lot more than $20, more on the order of $33 or somthing like that. I switched to regular after 50k miles (had always burned premium before that) with no noticable affect on gas mileage, and only a negligable affect on performance. The only time I miss the premium gas is accelrating uphill on an on-ramp; ever so small differnce in acceleration, but yes, noticable.

05 Manual MCS: I average 23-24 MPG mixed driving. Best I have ever done is 33 MPG strictly freeway with no grades. I drove it a week without the Dinan Stage 4 software and gained about 2 MPG's, but I prefer the extra "pep" with the software
Oh and I have stock sized tires. Going just a bit wider would probably drop me at least another MPG.

Gas Mileage
I keep a record of all my gas purchases and fill up every time I fuel up. My average mileage is around 32 mpg. Last week on the way back from the beach I averaged 39.9 mpg! To say the least I was shocked because the driving was mixed highway and small communities. My driving style is 5 - 10 miles per hour above posted.
