'03 MINI Cooper S Clutch and Engine questions.
This is for all of you smart people...
Clutch: I've got 74,000 miles on her and its been mostly stop and go city driving. Before I had even heard of the term 'clutch slippage' I had already guessed that's what it's doing. So, my question is: beings how I'm about to put a new clutch in, should I think about getting a new flywheel as well? How long to flywheels usually last compared to clutches?
Engine: I sometimes get this 'chugging' sensation from the car during moderate to heavy acceleration up until about 4,000 rpms (the power-band vicinity). Like there are these sporadic, split seconds of total power loss. It almost feels like every other second or so a cylinder isn't firing and the car is just gonna die. What the heck is going on? I would have to speculate that maybe its an O2 sensor problem, a fuel related problem (pump, filter, injectors), or an electrical problem. What are your thoughts?

Clutch: Strongly recommend getting your flywheel resurfaced. You can tell if your flywheel can be resurfaced or should be replaced when you take your clutch off. If you see any blueing or signs of excess heat buildup- replace the flywheel. If none of these conditions are present you can take it to a machine shop and get it resurfaced.
Engine: No check engine light on? May be a sporadic misfire but without having more information its hard to point my finger at one definite cause.

I've been getting a lot of mixed messages on here about being able to turn these flywheels. I might just shop around a little for some good deals on both...
Well I just got off the phone with Pep Boys and we both kinda thought it could be an injector issue. I scheduled a fuel injector cleaning for Monday afternoon. If that doesn't' fix it then I may just have to get them replaced.

I would give Minicorsa a call, I want to say his shop is close to(?). Nothing against Pep-Boys, but you will have better luck with a Mini Cooper specialist.
