R50/53 Headlight adjustment
Headlight adjustment
i just got new light bulbs for my 2002 mini cooper and they seem like they need adjusted. does anyone know how to make the headlights aim better so i can see? is it something i can do or should i get it done professionally? is there a way to adjust the fog lights too? thanks for the help.
You can adjust it yourself without any special tools if you can work inside a garage, here's my tried and true ghetto method:
1) Park the Mini in a garage facing a wall or flat surface. Turn the headlights on and make a mental note of how much you want each headlight to be adjusted.
2) Raise the hood, the headlights are now aiming at the ceiling and you have access to the two adjusting screws behind each headlight housing. One is to adjust the beam vertically and the other horizontally.
3) Look at the beam on the ceiling and adjust the two screws slowly to achieve the level and amount of adjustment you want from step 1.
4) lower the hood and check for result.
5) Repeat if necessary.
Hope this helps.
