I just dropped my baby off for its first service. The molding at the top of the windshield was coming off at highway speeds. It wasn't too traumatic leaving it there but driving the Dodge Intrepid rental they gave me back to work was. I just hope they get it done before I get off work so I don't have to spend the night without my baby.

I hope this isn't a "thread hijack," but it certainly falls under the banner of "First Service." In fact, my first service is upcoming in a few weeks. I'd appreciate any advice on what I should have looked at other than the obvious fluids and such. Should I request an ECU upgrade for my Cooper, any other extras I can squeeze out of BMW, etc???...
How did your first service go?
Thanks!!

I just had my 1st "10k" service done yesterday at Universal City (for those in LA) and everything went great. You can request a software upgrade if you don't have the latest but from reading other posts, if your car doesn't have any issue with smoothness or any of that, it may be better to leave it the way it is. You really feel the love for the mini when you are away from it for a little bit.

Okay, we can all relax now. I got her back and all is well. They even washed her for me. Sigh...

I was at a MINI dealership last week buying a car cover. While I was waiting on the cover, I seen where one of the shop guy's was bringing a MINI around to the front of the building to deliver to the owner.

I noticed some water dripping off of the side mirror and I just had to step outside and ask the service guy if they use MICRO FIBER TOWELS to dry off the cars.

His reply was....whats a micro fiber towel????

No doubt. Last winter, I went in for service witha filthy, salty car. They offered to wash it and when it came out there were loose towel threads all over the car and lots of SWIRLS!
