I still think of my MINI as a Mini....not a race car, not a statement, not ultra-cool, not a BMW, not badass, not intimidating. It is a Mini/MINI...I have no need for the rest. It's practical, economical, real-world transport that is just better for offering superb handling and excellent driver feedback/engagement. That makes it fun. Best money I ever spent on a car. I like to motor!!!

Yes the cute comment I get alot, and economical too. One kid said that he hated small cars till I gave him a ride home from work. I think some of the cuteness wears off when you do give a ride to someone and you say "check this out" and then their knuckles are turning white on the door handle. The funniest one was when I got out at the gas station wearing a camo baseball cap. The guy in the pick up truck that pulled next to me asked if it was my hunting buggy.

Cute......no not really!

Cute seems to be a common word used way too often. Cool...awesome...sharp...sweet...fast...not used often enough. I have dished out a couple of scary rides since buying mine in November, no one used the word cute at the end of their in-car experience. I don't spend alot of time thinking about cars that I would like to own but when I first saw MINIs something went snap inside...I really liked the style, or should I say Styling. Lifestyling.
It gives me a kick to drive and I find myself giving subtle signals to other MINI drivers just like when I rode my HD. Some get it, some don't but for those that don't they should keep their clown act quiet.

when I first got mine in late august, a lot of my friends laughed. Then I took them out in Princess and opened up the supercharger. They no longer laughed other than in joy at high speed driving. My one friend who traded in his bug because he got a lot of "gay car" jokes, despite it being a turbo s, understands quite well and didn't laugh at all. He just wanted to feel what was under the hood.

THe ladies, however, are just kinda nuts. I don't get a lot of cute. I get a lot of "nice car!" and "that looks fun to drive!" and *looking for a wedding ring and disappointed to find one*. I got more attention from women than I had gotten in _years_ in the _first weekend_. It was looney. I just couldn't help but think "really? a car? that's it?"

Lots of strangers ask me about it and the gas mileage. Sadly, I have to tell them that I drive like a maniac and it only gets about 27. But I do get to lay into my pitch. I got asked at a rest area in the middle of oregon one time... just totally random.

I always get compliments with mine. most of them commenting how it looks like a fun car! I always get stares and waves from other motorists while driving around town.

And of course those honda drivers always have to rev up the fart muffler to let me know there near me. "phtss, whatever".

It's amazing how delusional that "fart pipe" can make those Honda owners!!
I like to give them a taste of their own medicine:drop into 2nd and shove the pedal down, right as the boot passes their window, enabling them to receive a lion growl from my RMW header......blaaaap!

Obviously not from Los Angeles!

Most people that get in Gossamer are shocked at how gorgeous the interior is. I have anthracite and leather so that helps, but most are really floored at the "luxury" inside (even with rubber floor mats!). Then when you get on the freeway with them......they can't close their mouth......

Yesterday when I was heading home an RX-8 turned infront of me and the driver basically molested my MINI with their eyes. I was exhausted, but that certainly woke me up for a minute.

And I got asked by a manager at work if that "Cooper MINI" was mine, 'cause she thinks they're great cars.

I perceive my MINI as a great car and a blast to drive. However if you read the latest Import Tuner apparently other people perceive them much differently.

But then again the guy that wrote in prolly has his head in a very dark and smelly location.
