I am an insurance agent and the comp claim shouldn't be an issue for you.

Ric

Are you an independent agent, Ric, or do you work for a company ?

I'm a BI and PD claim adjuster with State Farm. Also spent 5 years in Underwriting, 3 of them as a Manager.

That's interesting? I had had someone back into my Mini, scratch the bumber and take off. When I tried to file a claim under comp, I was told that another vehicle "hit" me and therefore it was a collision, so $500 deductable on a $500 repair! Grrrr.

What's the difference between getting hit by another vehicle or a deer? I guess my agent would contend that the deer and my car had a collision therefore it is not a comp claim?

Not to mention dangerous for motorists.

I believe animals have their place in nature

Fortunately, down here in FL deer are not that common, but we have our own versions

Sorry about your incident. I would give Dent Wizard a call for a second opinion before you run to the body shop for an estimate.

Be glad you are alive. Colliding with a deer is not fun at all.

Generally (since I am licensed only in Virginia!!) Comp Claims are typically "other than collision" unless with a living animal or a object that is in motion like a rock thrown from the road or a wheel that is rolling down the road.

A shopping cart that hits your parked car is collision. Now your hit and run in Virginia would be an uninsured motorist claim and have a $200 deductible. Your state may vary!!!

Big difference between getting hit by an animal and a vehicle.

Could have been a UM claim but appears your insurance rep didn't find evidence to support your version and felt it was a single car accident.

Thanks everybody, I went and got several estimates today, and it is interesting to hear what they have to say. I've definately gotten the go-ahead to turn it into insurance though!

Stop 1: Not sure if they have worked on MINIs before, it is a local shop, I'm definately not going to go with them as they don't do the greatest work (I know first hand) but the parents said go and get an estimate any way. They quoted 1700.00 They want to replace my door and attempt to repair the rear quarter panel.

Stop 2: I'm sure that they have seen MINIs before, and are a pretty big repair place in Annapolis. They want to try and repair the door skin, however, they feel that I need a new rear quarter panel. Total came to 2,300.00

Stop 3: BMW of Annapolis Collision Center; They have definately seen MINIs before, they currently have 6 sitting in the parking lot. (BTW, anybody belong to the GP sitting there? It had DC plates, forgot to note the GP# though) Any way, they feel that I need a new Door and a New Rear Quarter panel. Thier total came to about 2,950.00

I know for a fact that my insurance company guarantees all work out of Severn AB, however, with the experience that Annapolis CC has with MINIs, I almost want to go with them. I'll have to see what the adjuster says when they come out. I'm thinking that I won't even show them the lowest estimate, as I don't trust their work.

I did see it pop up from the side of the road, however, there was no shoulder so all I could do was swerve a tiny bit and attempt to brake....

Again, Thank you everybody for your sympathy and suggestions/information.

-Chase

Hope it gets sorted soon. Deer + cars are a deadly combination. Be glad you did not get hurt on this encounter.

With my Wrangler, I hit two deer and one turkey flew into my windshield. Ugly.
I really hope my MINI has no physical encounters with the dorky animals... I've come within inches of smacking deer a few times with the MINI... The Xenon headlights have saved my **** often. Even a black bear darted across my path.
Always on the alert...
