"Lower Aux Fan" = Radiator Fan Assembly?

My dealer told me that my wife's mini needs a new "lower auxiliary fan." Does anyone know if they were talking about the radiator fan assembly? I've ben unable to get the fan behind the radiator to turn on, but it is about 38 degrees outside. I tried turning the airconditioning on, but still nothin'. So I guess the fan is blown.

Any suggestions on replacing it? I found the part on rockauto.com for $81. Not too bad.

Try changing out the relays in the fan unit....could fix the problem. I'm going to be trouble shooting this tomorrow!
Why can't the Germans make it an easier/cheaper fix?!?!?!

Did they specifically say it was part of the radiator/engine cooling system? There is also an aux fan that blows on the power steering components iirc...
