Had my first "age" related failure last week... Brake line next to the fuel tank rusted out!!! New lines are on their way, but it's an '03 with 198K on it, so if your's is that age, keep an eye on those brake lines!!
(shudders to think what could have been if it happened on the track)

Yea, replaced all mine already with the ECS SS brake lines , the hose went on one and replaced them all. I did not have the main hard line rust out yet. Just surface rust.

Purchased with 100K, 3 years ago. Currently at 148K.
Very minor issues, (steering column binding, wheel hub replacement and PS fan).
MINI took care of rust by replacing entire hatch and will be going again next month for a tiny spot on the tail light.
Will keep!!

The 05-06s have a 12 year warranty against corrosion.
I haven't had any problems with the dealer I took it to, (they have record of the car being maintained there by previous owner).
It was rust on the hatch that was bubbling, very small, and I said that in another year or two, while under warranty, will probably be a hole. Having said that, I also showed them the inner door sill surface rust which had a service bulletin already for repair.
Hatch was replaced as well as the inner door rust and a small bubble near the gas cap, (not to mention a chip).
When getting a small dent fixed, I had the tail light removed and noticed some bubble rust inside by where the metal panels join. I snapped a few pictures and got that approved, as well.
Taking it in next week. They'll also be covering the passenger side door sill rust.

I've got an 02 r50 and 06 r53. I had sold my r50 to a friend but when he was looking to part ways with it I bought it back. I don't think I'll be selling it again. It is currently sitting at 211k miles and counting.

Water pump gears on the back side of the supercharger started making some noise, so time to swap out the supercharger to my spare. Got a chance to replace a few other warn items will in here. Total cost under $180, and a good way to spend an afternoon.

I put loads of time and money into my 2006. It was brand new to me and an instant love affair. Alas, I sold it in a moment of financial weakness. Sad story right? Should have never let her go!

BUT!!! Karma was on my side this time around in life! I found a real gem. A diamond in the rough. a 2005 with less than 30k on it! One previous owner! And to top it off, the same color as my original. I can hardly wait to get started, putting things back to right with my long lost love. Cheers gang!

That is awesome !!

My friend with his 02 MC just hit 200,000 miles, original clutch went around 170,000 miles. Made it to the shop just in time since it needed to pushed into the garage.

Just reached 120,000 on my 06 MCS, I think I might be six feet under by the time I reach 300,000 miles on the Mini.
