Need new Clutch and Control Arm Bushings?

WOW, this little car is getting expensive. Just had my header break, and it looks like it is going to be covered on warrenty because the crack is close to the Cat which is an emissions item.

The service advisor just called and said that my clutch is going out (maybe a couple months left) and my Front Control Arms are SHOT. The total is about $2500 to get these fixed.

Is there a cheaper way to do this (for some reason BMW just thinks we all can afford a 750iL)?

If I don't go factory, what do you suggest for a good aftermarket replacements that are a lot cheaper?

For Labor, I am planning to find a private mechanic to do it, as they are usually much cheaper than the dealer.

This is really frustrating, so any advice is MUCH appreciated.

I'd get a second opinion on the clutch. Is it slipping? Did you notice a degradation in performance? How many miles? OEM parts shouldn't be too outrageous, unless you want to get stiffer bushings. Those (very expensive to replace) bushings seem to be a wear item.
Finding an independent BMW mechanic is a good idea - likely 1/2 of what the dealer will want. You can also get OEM parts from Classic MINI in Ohio at 20% off (mention NAM for the discount.)

Get a 2nd set of hands and eyes in there. Unless the MINI was in an accident the control arms are good to go, it's the bushings that go bad. Most go bad about 80K. I just replaced mine with http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...eIndexID=36704 and LOVE THEM! Most pro's could get them in and out in 2 hours or less.
