Can't see how it would hurt, go for it.

I had seen a thread where somebody had completely reworked the whole top piece. I just can't find the posting?

First things first, anything can help. But, that being said, I'm not sure if there is any measurable gain that will be seen. The air is coming out so turbulent, trying to make the horn turn, Hitting a 1+ psi pressure drop across the IC, etc., etc., etc., that there are to many issues with the "system".
Again, if I had it apart, I would clean it up too, just don't expect much. Keep an eye on the wall thickness of the casting, I'm not sure how thin it gets right before the flat surface, but sometimes extra mass there keeps the vibration induced stress cracks from showing up.

Did you smell/feel the liquid, it probably is oil passed through the SC from the PCV. Have you ever looked in your IC?

Shouldn't I cut this little area out? since the gasket in the pic clearly outlines the mouth/exit hole for the SC? It would seem to me that this little "lip" overhanging the gasket can't be helping...

And... what is that small pool of oil like liquid lying there in the casting recess when I removed the OAD? its light reddish brown and clear?
I would leave it. Any "potential" benefits are offset by the potential damage that can be done.

When these casts are made, all the dynamics of metallurgy, high speed vibration, and stress are factored into the blue prints and mold when designed.

Personally, I wouldnt try to out think the designers on this one, you may just end up with a cracked and/or leaking SC......

I would work on the intake and exit horn. The other parts look structural to me. I wouldn't touch them.
