CVT TRANS. FLUID CHANGE

Wow ! I just had my '06 MC in for its first Inspection Service (28K) and it's like a MIRACLE happened when they changed my CVT fluid. I had always been unhappy with the jerkiness of the CVT Tranny (and it was REALLY jerky with the Cruise Control on), and it would over-rev (tach would surge up to 5,000 rpm's and then come back down) when slowing from 60mph to 40mph routinely, but I had read where that was just "characteristic of the CVT Beast.) Well, honestly, I don't know what they did but it's like I have a new transmission !! Smooth as can be and Cruise is truly a "Cruise" now. I wonder if the original fluid level was too low or too high or something ? This is of course the first time anyone has serviced the transmission. What a difference ! (Could they have re-calibrated the engine computer when they did the Diagnostics Check?)

Has anybody else had this experience with their CVT ?

it makes me wonder if jerkiness is a way to get them to explore if there are any potential issues to get covered before the end of the warranty.

The control of the transmission and its relationship to the engine, fuel system and everything else is done by computer.

I thought they stopped making CVTs starting in '05?

Edit: Nevermind, it wasn't until the R56s.

Wondering if anybody else has since had experience with the fluid level being low causing this jerky-ness or any other specific issues in the CVT?

YES!!

I have the jerkiness. It doesn't do it with the cruise on but the other times it does.. NOW, with that being said, switching to shift mode, which I haven't mastered yet, It is as SMOOOOOTH as glass..So I just figured it was the car itself. Soo, since I salvaged mine from a NON MINI dealer,(I couldn't let her sit there) There is NOOOO telling what they did to her.. There is almost 60k on her and she was really taken care of by previous owner,( have all the paperwork and stuff) I hate to think what it will cost to take her to the MINI place and have her ckd out from head to boot.. I will be watching the thread to see what everyone has to say..
