R50/53 Trouble getting comfortable.
Trouble getting comfortable.
Not sure why, but I've had my Cooper S almost two weeks now and have driven it every day (including one fairly long trip) and I cannot seem to get comfortable in it. Comfortable physically or mentally.
Not sure what the deal is, tough to explain.
Anyone have a similar "break in" problem?

I had quite the opposite problem. I came from a newer, more roomy MKV GTI and I could NEVER get comfortable with the seating position. I always felt like I was buried in that car. I was constantly fussing with the seating. Not to mention the dash dwarfed my visibility.
Sat in the MINI and it was like "finally, this fits!" So yeah, Goldilocks for me.
So what's your gripe? Seating position? Too cute of a car for ya? Try to explain even if it is difficult, I'd like to understand. If it's primarily a "mental" problem, dark window film/tint really helps isolate you.

Be sure to play around with all the seat controls - forward/back, up/down and lumbar support.
I've found that adjusting the seat height makes a big difference in comfort for me, because the seat height adjuster doesn't work like an office chair where the angle of the seat base stays the same. In the MINI, raising and lowering the seat changes the tilt of the seat base pretty drastically.

I'm on my second week of ownership and same thing here. Took me a while to adjust the seat to a comfortable seating position.

I had lots of trouble finding the sweet spot in my seat ...but once found its very comfortable now ...and no one is allowed to readjust the seat expcept for moving it forward and back. Lots of folks complain about the 1st Gen seats ...I have no complaints. Nice and comfy, even on a 5-hour road trip with just one stop for gas.
As for bring mentally comfortable ...that came long before delivery.

Me too!! But I finally got it down to the height adjustment. I kept creeping down and forward and I would have to push myself back into the seat. I am only 5'3" and 120 lbs so to me the seats are too big anyway. But now I have the perfect rake, height and forward adjustment to feel comfortable and more connected with the car......keep trying, even little increments go a long way.
I think its the angle of the seats. I feel like my butt is sunk down too low and it makes my lower back hurt.
For the mental part, there is no shame for sure! I love the car. It looks great and performs amazing for a car this size. I just don't feel its my car yet... probably cuz I can't get comfy.
