R50/53 Massive Exhaust Failure...97k miles?
Massive Exhaust Failure...97k miles?
Hello everyone,
About 2 weeks into JCW ownership (and only a week ago) I found that my car had become a bit 'sportier' than usual, and was beginning to sound less like a tuned german airplane and more like a used honda accord. Yesterday it really let go, I was pulling into traffic and made a shift around 5k rpm and there was a clap of thunder and then very loud loud exhaust sounds. I brought the car to a mechanic buddies the other day when it first started and we determined between us that it was the coffee canister looking thing located right below the flex pipe. I went under today, and that part is now totally disconnected (can't tell if its the bottom end or the top end from where I'm looking)
Question which no one can answer for me: how many cats does the MCS have? If there are two... How the heck did the first Cat break in half like this? The car only has 97k miles, and it is from long island so it is squeeky clean underneath..
Thanks for the help in advanced!
