They had no choice. I suspect if the Euro ped laws never came into existence, the design of the 2nd gen MINI would be even closer to the first gen than it already is. I prefer the R53 too, and I'm actually holding out for gen3 (if its any bigger than the R56, I'm probably done with MINIs) before buying again. That being said, if my R53 was totalled, I'd be VERY tempted to buy a JCW R56, but I'd have to have a long talk with Jan first...
