Air Conditioning problem...

Hi: guys. I am having a little challenge with the AC, and any help would be appreciated from you MINI experts. I just replaced the slave cylinder and the pics and directions that I got from here were great. So, let's try this one.....

I have an '04 MCS. he AC was beginning to not be as cold when stuck in traffic. Now it just blows hot all the time. Here's what I have done so far.

Checked the refrigerant, and the high side it ~ 40. The low side seems a little high at ~ 50.

The compressor is not kicking on

All the fuses are fine.

I was trying to find some of the components, but couldn't. Where is the receiver/dryer? Pressure switch? etc

Is there a common fault and fix on these cars when the AC quits? Thanks for the help......

Unplug the electronic clutch wire on the compressor if it has a plug, and do a continuity check with an ohm meter.

Sounds like your refrigerant charge is too low based on the figures you noted. Static pressure normally is normally higher than your figures. This link answers some general AC questions.

I agree with flash. The high side is usually a lot higher than the low side. It, the high side, can be up in the 175-300 range depending on ambient temps when the compressor is running.

Thanks for the link! This has answered allot of the AC mysteries....

I still need to find where all the components are. I know where everything is on my Ferrari's, but this MCS still has some challenges.
