R50/53 seat won't lean back

seat won't lean back
so i shoved a 42" tv in its box into the back of my mini
had to move the seats all the way forward with the seat back strait up (quite a site for a guy thats 6'1")
the next day when i go to put my seat back to where it was it won't lean back, so i called up the dealership and said i needed to realign it?
the center handle won't even budge?
trying to avoid taking it in, any advice?
