Walked into my garage this morning, and overnight while parked the windshield spontaneously cracked. Started beneath the rubber seal right at the VIN on driver's side, moving diagonally toward the center of the windshield. No chips, no pits. Can't wait to hear how the snivelling weasels at MINIUSA will attempt to slither out of warranty replacement. And I know they haven't got the cajones to contact me. This is NOT my first windshield to need replacing.

I've already filed an official complaint with NHTSA. Maybe more people should do the same, since this is such a well known issue.

Your correct. the best way to get some action is to file complaint with National Transportation & Safety Board. If enough are filed, the feds may REQUIRE as safety re-call.

Good Idea... Here's the link to the federal NHTSA complaint form. Just follow the easy steps to file a windshield complaint. Enuff people do it, maybe MINI will have to admit the problem and make good on it.Complaint Form for National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Hey BeerBrewer,

I'd suggest putting some tape over the crack for the drive to the dealer. It would really suck to pick up some minute rock chip near the crack which the dealer would then use to deny a warranty replacement.

Best of luck to you,

James
