MANY THANKS
I just wanted to say publicly, THANKS to the many folks out there in the MINI community.
Peter (M7), and his wife Shelly for all the times they have answered the phone and just talked about their current stuff and what their working on next, and trying to help me sort out the problems with my car.
I can also say the same thing for Larry (ENDYN, theoldone.com) and JAN, who I'm sure everyone knows already, for the attempt at tuning my poorly running car.
Steve from customminishop, with all the advice on the AGS tube.
They have always been more than willing to help out and answer questions when they can.
I've also PMed many folks here that had same experiences as myself, and asked how they overcame them. Some had simple enough answers like "I sold it" and others I went back and forth with long periods of time (sorry, I can't keep PMs from everyone, so I don't have any specific names).
I can also say this, for anyone out there who wants to go hog wild on their car, do yourself a favor and do one thing at a time (unless involves taking the motor apart). I replaced EVERY last little thing in my car all at once, and it just plain did not work out very well, so it wasn't known what the part was that caused the problem.
In my case, I went aftermarket pistons, supercharger, head, cam, injectors, DFIC, TB, AGS V3, ported intake manifold/horns, DT bypass valve, coil/plugs/wires, header, borla exhaust... not to mention the Quaife, flywheel, clutch, USS, strut bar, control arms, coilovers, camber plates, ALTA PSRS, BBK, swaybars, engine dampeners/motor mounts, you name it, I've replaced it.
I had been fighting an apparent vac leak for months now, causing code P1498, unmetered air after compressor. Run like a champ while driving, but just plain would not idle worth a hoot. In the end it ended up not being any leak or the AGS tube, it was with all the porting on the intake side, the 59mm TB was just too big, allowing too much flow (which plain doesn't make sense to me) but after putting the stock TB back on it has cleared and it now, FINALLY, idles just fine.
THANKS NAM!!!
