Mobil 1 oil

In the current issue of MC2 there is an article on motor oil. It includes a list of MINI approved oils which includes Mobil 1 product, but not the 5W30 viscosity. I don't have it in front of me, but I think is listed 0W30 with a special. Anyone else notice this? Comments?

I would definitely like to know this too. I am about to go pick up some oil and I was going to get 5-30. Should I be getting something different?

since 0w30 is superior to 5w30 I'd asume that it's compatible too.
If you live in cold climate during winter you can run 0w30 year round if you don't mind extra cost for 0w30 oil.

True, but why wouldn't MINI also approved the 5w30?

My car has had Mobil 1 5w30 since the first oil change at 4-6k or so. No problems, even in the occational -15º F winter.

The oil has to meet the right spec. Mobil 1 0W-40 is both ACEA A3/B3 & BMW LL-01 spec'd. that's the stuff you want, (if you're going to use Mobil 1).
