I have a 90 day warranty with the dealership I bought it from so I'm gonna bring it back there. I also have a 3 year warranty through GE, but that comes with a $100 deductible, which is more than it would most likely cost to fix it without a warranty.

thanks for the help

Just to follow up on this, I brought this issue up when I was in for service last month, and the dealer replaced the whole handle/latch assembly (had to get it painted first). So far so good, including 3 wicked snow & sleet storms and 1 thorough carwash.

My dealer did the same replacement - the issues still exist in the "new" handle (fabric tape that retains moisture, and an unsealed switch). Mine worked great through a dozen or so rainstorms, and ju-ust when I was feeling safe agein....

...boonk...

It could also be that I got two assemblies that were faulty. This last one, however, has been through 3 seasons of weather without issue after my waterproofing fix/.

i have been having trouble closing the hatch.. i sometimes lift the back seat and pull that ring on the string to release something.. it does not fix the misalignment but it sometimes allows it to close.
i am planning on taking the car in.

I no longer have the MCS that had the Hatch problem. The problem was traced back to the BC1 :-(
