I am kinda surprised the gas cap cover does not lock, at 5 pounds per gallon of petrol I am wary of petrol thieves.

Lots to learn with the wee beastie.

Cheers. Peter
If your toggle switch says ASC, that's all you got. If it says DSC, you got both.

Your gas cap does lock. Lock your doors and try opening the gas cap lid.

I would hate for it to be near 6th gear.

And ya, my '03's gas cap locks as well.

Thanks much, I did see what looked like a locking pin from the side when opened but didn't see how to operate, I would never have guessed that it locks when the car does. I would have been going nuts had I tried to fill up with the car running, not that you do that very often, if at all.

Again, this board has been very helpful thanks!!

Well, also, when you close the gas cap, it will click. After that click, you would have to twist it back open for it to be able to be pulled off. But yes, it does also have a more secure "anti-theft" locking mechanism once the car itself is locked.

I have found that in a rush to get to second I go into a no mans lands behind reverse. I can see that I am pushing too far to the left and locking the gear lever there...anyone else have this problem or is it just something to get used to. My mondeo you can slam into 2nd from 3rd w/o any worries of losing track of where your gear lever is.

Bought my '02 used, and had a track day 2nd day I owned it. You bet I put it in Reverse several times that day, especially on Nashville's hairpin left just after the straightaway!!! Very embarrassing to have the Porsche's and others eating your tail while you coast along looking for a gear that ain't there - especially with an instructor in the car.

Now that I've driven it a while, I've learned where it is. I did hit it again just the other day. At least is is not up where 1st gear is. That was genius.

I did not dis-engage the clutch when putting it in R, and it felt like it did not want to engage - 'course I was still going 70 and braking hard at the time.... It was just obvious that I had not found 2nd.

We've all done it. You're not a noob - well, not for long anyway.
