Mini and PUMA have come together to promote a new shoe as seen here in Bridger.us. Given the heavy handedness of the Mini/BMW lawyers, I say we should boycott any Mini/BMW accessories until they resolve minicooperonline.com issue in a reasonable manner.

This is really getting out of hand, IMO. I fully support Mark, but I will continue to buy MINI stuff and support MINI so they thrive and are around for years to come.

I agree with Donna/Mike - let the boycott begin!

Donna - I'm new to the site so maybe I've missed the joke, but what is the significants of "chow"?

Everyone's entitled to an opinion and position, but I fear that this one is somehow based in the belief that MINI is somehow distinct from BMW...and that it's possible to support some company called "MINI" and not BMW. Hello?...they're the same! It seems to me that the best way to support the MINI brand is to get BMW to change the way it treats enthusiasts of the brand. IMO.

Playing devil's advocate here...does all this mean we should stop encouraging prospective buyer's to get these cars? I know there's been a fair number that were bought directly from what people on here said.

It's just a silly way of saying "See Ya" or "Cheers".

I support your move! Can someone make a signature pic with this boycott idea, a la MINI ad, Let's Boycott!!!! ?

Let's boycott any non-essential MINI products until BMW of NA retracts their counterproductive request!
Let's use our consumer muscle!

I would also consider the following, except it does not hit MINI but dealers instead:
I think MINI has benefitted immensely from sites such as this one: many peoiple can sort out minor problems with their MINI from sites like MCO:
for example, many have fixed hatch rattles, sunroof squeaks, window dip resets etc..., based on info from MCO and other sites. Imagine if all these folks had run to dealers with such little details! Dealers would be inundated!
I think MINI is unappreciative of all these sites have done for MINI - not to mention advertising, and all at no cost to MINI.

BMW of NA: you are shooting yourselves in the foot on account of idiotic advice from some legal bozos!

MINI, you are undoing most of what your grass-roots advertising campaign has accomplished!

Let's show MINI the value of these websites!

I agree with this boycott! Don't buy MINI stuff, especially the JCW kit, it's too expensive, and MINI owners can get more H.P. from the vendors that advertize on this site. If you don't believe me just pickup the latest MiniWorld magazine. None of the JCW kits hit 200 HP on the dyno!

well, yes, but the money for the JCW kit goes to JCW and not MINI, and the install money goes to dealers, and not MINI per se.

I'd say let's just boycott MINI accessories and apparel.

>>but the money for the JCW kit goes to JCW and not MINI<<

You'd be hard pressed to convince me that part of the profit doesn't end up in BMW's pocket. Not to start a "discussion" here, but it seems unlikely, in light of the recent events, that they would tell JCW that they could develop a system for the MINI and not collect on it somewhere.....especially since any warranty money comes out of BMW's wallet. They're going to make up that money somewhere. In actuality, this is probably why the kit is so expensive in the first place.

...and as far as the footwear goes, no problem boycotting those shoes. MINI couldn't pay me enough to put them on my feet and go out in public! That's one ugly shoe!

As well as signing the petition we should BOYCOTT all MINI MOTORINGGEAR and anything sold under the MINI motion brand name. Purchase things from the vendors that support this sight.

I also fully support Mark and this site (As well any of the other reputable MINI sites outhere) but I will continue to purchase MINI branded products and services. I fully understand why many of you feel so upset but in my honest opinion this is been taken to an extreme. (Like the BMW/MINIUSA guys are doing)

In all fairness, I still want to hear what the other side has to say. I think you are issuing sentencing of MINIUSA a bit too quick.

I agree with the silliness of the situation at hand but I will not jump into the boycott bandwagon.

I don't think anyone wearing those shoes is going to get any.

if you're really serious about a "boycott", then you need to drive back to the Mini dealer and try to return your Mini! Afterall, you've given them quite a chunk of change already. I personally think boycotts are for whiney religeous-right types, they get attention for whining but never really accomplish anything. Besides, look at those shoes, they're ugly as ****! Who would wear something like that??

why not put your energy into something productive, write to the addresses given for MINIUSA, etc.

And how do I feel? On the bridger you will find the post:

Thomas E Spray <sprayfhs@yahoo.com> :: 8/6/2003 8:36 PM
The shoes are bad, as ugly. Additionally I will be buying no maore MINI products, as a result of their hob-nail-boot tactics they are taking with numerous enthusiast sites like minicooperonline and others. I love the car but the company and their lawyers will get nothing more from me. Yes I have cancelled my JCW Works kit. This site could be next.

But what does an old man know?

Motor on

You are correct, we can't use the MINI name if it were to refer to the car...
