I've seen 20's on a cooper S before, it was AWFUL! it looked like one of those donked out 80's Cutlass's
I acted interested just to talk to the guy to see what he was smokin, and he said that ha lost over half of his turning radius!

DON"T DO IT!!

You know....that and the fact that they will more than likely raise the car from stock height and make lowering next to impossible.....so you'll end up with a car that looks like a little 4x4 SUV

you all sound like a bunch of old men lol i am lookin for pics and the only thing i got that was useful was that you lose turning radius. small wheels = a retarded look thats y the manufacturers are putting 18 19 and 20 inch wheels on all kinds of new luxury as well as sports cars. if you dont think mini's look good with bigger wheels then post a pic or your mini with its lil wheels and we can all judge. like i said before i probably wont go with 20 but 18 at least maybe 19 was just lookin for pics

For the most part....the cars coming with those size wheels have overall larger wheel arches or wheel wells. As I said earlier....sizes as large as 19 and 20 begin to be too large for our smaller wheel wells and will cause trouble with lowering which leaves you with a high ride height.

Our outer diameter is also smaller than the "luxury and sports cars" that you speak of...so going with wheels that big will increase your outer diameter in most cases. Raising the outer diameter will further raise your car up off the ground as well as make rubbing more likely.

18 is a nice size for our cars. Due to the smaller size of the wheel wells the 18's still look HUGE to give you that look if it's your thing, but it would still allow you to lower the car. 18's can definitely look good on our cars Opinions aside, the 19's and 20's begin to run into problems and will force you to run the car at a high ride height.

I'm not saying bigger wheels look bad or anything....just trying to point out the fitment issues you can expect to run into when it comes to going bigger than 18". I'm trying to find pics of the eurotuner mini when they put 20's on it....I'll let you know if I find it

my 15's look awesome

Check out this thread. I know the owner of the black Mini shown in that thread has posted his Mini here before with better pics, but I can't seem to find them.

I saw a short video of a MINI driving around with 20s on youtube I believe. Do a search for it. I'll try to find it when I get off work.

03coopS....I use 19 x 8 with 215/35/19 on the street & lowered suspension.
I also have 17 x 7 with 215/45/17 semi slicks for track use.
Don't pay attention to the negativity bandied about on here, my turning circle is the same, my car goes just as hard on the 19's as the 17's, there is only 10% difference in weight between my 17's & 19's, & as far as looks go i think there is nothing worse than an MCS on 15's or 16's with huge sidewalls.

you do realize that there is no advantage to 20 inche wheels right?

i just love how owners, especially these SUVs owners, get enormous chrome rims for their cars, but dont even consider bigger brakes to stop the extra 40 pounds of rotating mass

personally there are no advantages to buying 20 inch rims, they are heavy, they are bulky, they are expensive. And i am 22. not an old man, not that anyone in here is

Just my opinion but the MINI looks absurd with those 20s. Jesus, it makes it looks like a stagecoach.

If your refering to my stagecoach they are 19's not 20's & it sure looks a lot better than your stocker IMO.
Also if you have no experience in the subject & nothing positive to contribute to the op's question keep your negative comments to yourself.
It's takes no ability to sit on the sideline driving a stocker & criticise those that wish to mod a car to thier liking.
You already stated in post #8 your opinion so why continue to berate people with your negativity.
BTW how many shows has your stocker won ? mines won it's share so your opinion of how it looks obviously isn't shared.

No need to jump to conclusions, he has his freedom and rights to say whatever he feels like saying and you do too, but no need to jump to conclusions, nowhere did I read, was he referring to your car.

Do you find a need to boast about your car, and put down his MINI just because it's stock? So what if your rolling on 19" and he's on stock wheels, I don't see a need to say how your car won shows and his hasn't, honestly just because you have 19" please don't think your better than other people on here...

Lol chill out man....he said 20's because he was talking about the movie of the MINI on 20's that I posted. He would have said 19's if he meant your car.

Slap some 15's on the front and some 17's in the back.

Now you're talkin.
