Just went to my local Target. Pretty big sign hanging overhead as you come in of a CR/W MCS with a dog hanging out of the sunroof.

Told them I wanted to buy it. I think they were ready to call security.

Maybe someone else will have better luck. Would look awesome in the old garage.

Has BMWNA trademarked the shape of the car? (I think the Coke bottle is, etc)

How come Dayton Hudson can pull that crap, solely to make money, yet MCO can't do it, incidentally to make money?

This is quickly turning me into a bitter, old fart. And look, it's making me shrink! I USED to look big when I sat in a MINI...

 

Being in the retail corporate world, I can pretty much guarantee that either:

A. Target is paying MINI a royalty for using it's image on this poster
or
B. MINI is paying Target a fee for "advertising" their product in Target stores.

Trust me people, someone on either side is getting paid.

I actually have one of those signs leaning up against the wall in my office about 4ft from where I am sitting. (No I don't work for Target....)

Someone who knows I have a Mini snagged it for me when they were taking it down.

 

I saw the MINI in Target too. Someone I know works there--maybe they can snag it for me as well.

It's called, "Hmmm....we need a red/white combo car...well, we have access to this MINI which is red/black....let's just put white vinyl on the roof...that way it's protected from the dog's nails as well."

It's called Photoshop, I'll bet five bucks that the dog, the bags(like I have never seen in a target store) and the red and white wall either don't exist or were never even close to the car. The color fill on the roof would only take a two second drag and drop from the pallet. :smile:

 

It's got a shorty antenna, too. Strange that BMW didn't insist on a more stock MINI for this ad. It would almost make you think that they're NOT a bunch of nitpicky spoilsports.

 

With that shorty antenna, it makes me wonder if it's not somebody who works at the company that did these...

Either way, I think a lawsuit is in order...

Everyone is focusing on the colors being incorrect and impossible for this car, which I agree. But I am having real issues with a dog being able to drive the car while sticking his head out of the sunroof. Let alone the safety issues with having enough Target bags in the car to block your vision. Although the dog is sticking his head out of the roof, so I guess the bags aren't a real issue. :smile:
