Maintenance package

Can anyone tell me the easiest way to determine if my 05 Mini (bought used last year with 5k miles from the original owner - but through a leasing agent - so I had no contact with orig owner - whom i think just bought the car as an extra toy) has $0 maintenance included (oil changes, rotors, etc). I'm assuming that Mini offered this on their 05 vehicles simply because my 05 BMW had it included.

Also, if you have this plan, can you take your car to a non MINI BMW dealer (closest MINI dealership is about 40+ miles, closest BMW is about 8 miles)

Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks.

The 2002-2006 MINIs have a 4 year, 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warrantee. Extended maintenance plans are available for a fee and can be purchased at anytime before the original warranty expires; I have a 2006 MCS and have a 6 year, 100,000 mile extended maintenance warranty that the dealer gave me because the technician decided to leave tools under the hood when he did some routine maintenance (always look under the hood BEFORE you drive off the lot after servicing). Anyway, a ratchet and extension ended up crushing the intercooler when the technician closed the hood. Intercooler replaced and warranty plan provided at no charge as a means to make it up to me.

Unfortunately, you have to take your MINI to a MINI dealer for service; the BMW-only dealers do not have trained MINI technicians available, that is why the necessity to go to the dealer.

If you are only driving 40 miles consider yourself lucky. I have to drive 126 miles each way to Atlanta for service; my day is pretty much shot when I have to get service. I know others driving even farther, but it gives you a good opportunity to motor in the MINI!

It's 3years/36,000miles free mantenance. An extention to 4yrs/48,000 miles is offered for a few hundred bucks. Authorized Mini Service only. Call the dealer for more details. Miantenance and warranty are two different issuses.

Service Plan

Dr. Pepper is correct on the 36 month/36,000 miles. Thanks for correcting me.
