Theft Proof Valve Caps!!

Honestly, is there a secret underground society that survives on valve caps? My husband and I have replaced our chrome valve caps numerous times only to have found YET AGAIN, one cap off each MINI is missing! I immediately thought to myself...'the next person that attempts to snake a chrome valve cap off my MINI is going to pull back a stump!'

Alas, I have chosen LOVE not WAR and have come across a less violent means of handiling this..... have you seen or heard of 'spin-caps' by KLM innovations? It is a guaranteed anti-theft valve cap solution!! WOO HOO!

I have just ordered two sets...one for blumini (red tri-striped chrome) and one set for MINIFiredancer (black tri-striped chrome)...Will post actual pics/review upon their arrival from AZ however for now.......

$17.95 for the tri color or tri cut chrome

Nice! Caps not the thieves. When I was a youth, kids used to "aquire" these fancy caps and put them on their bikes.

Cool, I've always feared my BBS valve caps would be tempting to someone.

Doesn't solve the problem I have... local tire shop who tried to steal my custom chrome valve stem caps.

I fixed the problem two ways though.

I take them off any time I take the car to the tire shop.

And, of course, I changed tire shops. And boy, let me tell you, I had some rather ungentlemanly words for the shop foreman.

I recently bought some MINI caps from Moss. They also have the Union Jack available. They just spin without using the key.

those are cool caps.

Griot's also sells valve caps where you need to use a special (?) key to
remove it. other wise it just spins freely. they have a unionjack one if
anyone cares.

I guess when I show up at MOTD with just one MINI, I'm going to hear from you about it, Blimey.

Bought these when we first took delivery and have been pleased. I was inspired to puchase these after hearing about a "trick" where the cap is removed and very small stone is placed inside the cap and a slow leak is created when the stone pushes down on the valve stem mechanism as the cap is screwed back on.

Do these weigh enough to impact the tire balance?
Just wondering if they need to be on to get a correct balance, not that they would have enough change to cause problems.

They haven't affected mine. They are very light in weight.

Ahhhhh..... found them.

Hmmmm..... lessee... my cheapo ones have gone un-stolen for 18 months... I could replace a set every couple of years and it would take 10 years to pay for the Griot's ones...

Most of the time the caps are stolen by kids. It seems they are collector items. Just use a pair of pliers to slightly tighten the caps beyond finger tight. I have the "S" covers and they've never been stolen (although I have seen knucke marks in the brake dust).
