I'd like to mention this info now in case any future planning/discussion is taking place for local MINI owner's groups....

I think it would be great of local owners could get together to celebrate:

John Cooper's Birthday - July 17th (...missed it this year ) Our cars bear his name...nuf said! (Got a lovely email from JCW confirming the date)

Sir Alec Issigonis - Nov. 18th. Inspired designer of the first Mini.

I suggest all MINIdom drink a grateful toast for the wonderful heritage we've inherited in our cars and in which we now participate as we motor each day. Care to share any creative ideas how locals groups might do this? Any other MINI observances that you know of?

It doesn't take much to get me to agree to drink a toast but I'll have to wait til tonight (supposed to be working right now).
Here's another date to toast and it's less than 2 months away:
The 28th of September, which was the first unveiling of the new MINI (at the Paris Motor Show in 2000).
