R50/53 2004 MINI Cooper - 95K service question
2004 MINI Cooper - 95K service question
I just got a 2004 MC with 95K miles - it's awesome! When I ran the Carfax report, I learned that it was last sold with 59K miles just 1 year ago. So yes, 36K miles in 1 year of driving by the previous owner, which is a lot, but clearly mostly highway miles. It's a 5 speed with no mods that I could see.
So my question is this: what service should I get done right away? I'll figure the 90K service wasn't done. It just had an oil change, though, by the last owner. Air filter, spark plugs... what else? Belts? I know I want to make the air filter mods to get better gas mileage. I just gotta figure out exactly what to do! No pings or knocks, idles at 800 rpm, no funny smells or sounds in the engine compartment. And I got 40.5MPG going 65MPH for 30 miles getting home! I want to go ahead and get done whatever makes sense to get done now that I just bought it and I'm pretty sure that it's not had any upkeep in the past 1 year.
Thanks in advance!
David

I'm not talking about getting a checkup done- I already
bought the Mini. I'm talking about what things to ask my
mechanic to do, or advise me to do/not do based on his
looking closely, given that the 90K service likely passed
without being done and the fact that it has 36K miles in
the past 1 year. So it'll be my car specialist doing the work,
not me. I figure all the 90K service stuff should be considered,
but I'm wondering what else I should be aware of or concerned
about given the car driving history.
Thanks!
