R50/53 Another freakin tire!!
Another freakin tire!!
I can't believe it. Last night I heard a noise that sounded like I ran over something so I circled around and sure enough. Someone's rearview mirror had fallen out of the side mount. It blew out another Dunlop runflat. I have to bum a ride and drive about 100 miles to get one since that is the closest place to have one that matches. I can't wait 5 days for them to ship it. My truck has a leaking diesel injector and had to be brought in for service. Then this happens. Christmas time is not the best time for this sort of thing to be happening....my kids expect every spare dollar I have.
I keed.
But this tire is going to end up costing me over $400 after I retrieve it and get it mounted.
Second one in a week. I guess I'm lucky it happened to the most worn one of the four. But, it still had over half of the tread left!
I guess I won't have to worry about them being mismatched on tread depth now.

If it looks like it's going to be a habit, keep an eye in Marketplace for used runflats. They come up all the time at very reasonable prices.
Alternatively, as resmini says, just get a full set of conventional tires, a plug kit and an air compressor. Then sell YOUR runflats so some sucker doesn't have to pay $250 for A tire.

The sad thing about runflats is that you are still left with a flat tire that needs repair/replacement when something goes wrong.
Sure, they offer a bit of convenience if you don't have to stop right now and handle the situation, but rarely do people find themselves back on the road as fast as the might be if their cars had easily acquired normal tires.
That being said, I recently bought a set of brand new runflats for my second set of wheels here in the marketplace for $50 each.

Yes I'm going with a second set of wheel/tires that will be non-run flat and will be my primary wheel and tire combo I run. With the fix a flat and compressor in the boot...and towing included in my insurance too.
I'll use my run flat's as spares if necessary or until the wife says I have to get them out of the garage
.
I can't belive how much run flat's cost. They are way overpriced IMO.

Sell the runflats that you have sitting around. A while back I had 2 near mint runflats that were on the back and never rotated (by the original owner.) I sold 2 for enough to buy my Kuhmo's. I have a compressor and fix-a-flat for short drives and I bum a spare from a buddy for longer drives till I get my own.

Well I got it all done. I can honestly say that I won't be replacing the tires with the same runflats again if something happens to any of them. Like Naffets said, I'm going to get towing insurance or put AAA on this car and a set of normal tires on it. I spent an entire day messing with this. And all for some rough riding round bricks. I'm almost tempted to buy a new set of wheels and put some G-force or comparable tire on them.
