Upcoming snow - clutch and DSC

I was following a good thread over in the R56 section and it got me thinking. What is the proper way to use the clutch and DSC in heavy show where slippage is evident?

Last winter I had some close ones and had to use the clutch more than I liked and I am sure continuing to do that is a bad idea.

What happens to the clutch / transmission when the car gets stuck and DSC takes over?

If you are in deep snow, turn the DSC off to get going, you need some wheel spin, then once you are on you way, turn it back on, unless you are plowing through drifts. The DSC effects the throttle, it won't hurt anything by kicking in but you will bog down in snow.

I cannot begin to fathom the number of times DSC has almost gotten me killed in snow. Turn it off when starting out in snow, pulling into traffic, crossing intersections, and pretty much anywhere. Infact, I have been turning it off at start up for about 4 years. I even orderd the "DCS off" grill badge.

My DSC is permantly turned off due to a CAT delete (post o2 sensor trips the DSC)! So I will not have DSC turning the winter...I hope I'll be fine.

One thing to keep in mind here is that in snow/ice, a light touch on the throttle usually is better than a heavy foot. Unless you are plowing through newly fallen snow.

I purposely take turns a little faster in the winter just so the DSC kicks in. It is a sweet feeling to know that you can still push the corners. From a stop though, it's 50/50 as to whether i keep it on. If i need to get away in a hurry it's off, if there is lots of snow it's on.
But your driving should be smooth enough in anykind of weather that you should be able to avoid it coming on constantly.
