Hood Scoop

Hey guys I was wondering who makes an air scoop (for the vent next to the windshield) to help breath and re-direct air to the CAI systems.

Hate to Cause Controversy...

I also wanted to add these Cowl Scoops on my MINI, but did not. I wish I could recall the source, maybe ALTA or M7 websites, or even word of mouth. Anyway, it has been explained to me that the 2 Cowl "Vents" are in place to remove heated air out from under the hood, so fitting the Cowl Scoops would actually reverse that intention. I do have to say that there are differing opinons about this, therefore I am in no way saying not to buy them. If I could get some conclusive information that it would help rather than hurt anything under the hood, I would be there with you guys and buy a set.

Anyway, I'm very interested in hearing your opinions.

Thanks

I've always wanted these, but for some reason they insist on selling these as sets when all I want is the functional one on the intake side.

I'm hesitant to buy two parts when I only need/want one.

Well the ABS plastic there keeps most any heat from flowing out in stock form, and above 30MPH or so they serve a purely air in effect, however the airin effect results from the way pressure builds up at the base of the windshield, not from forward airflow so all those scoops are really doing is blocking air from getting in there (watch the base of the windshield in the rain @ speed with no wipersand you'll see quickly, or you can do the old yarn andtape method too, not to mention the stock aiming of the cowl vents rearward to facilitate airflow). now the outside air entering through the vents I know does provide a cooling effect, esp when you go to an all metal CAI that allow heatsoak from the engine to spread, but again you need the air from the rear of the car to work forward.
