R50/53 Show me your towhooks

It's a BMW towhook, but the same thread pattern. It's a nice looking piece and HEAVY so it's the real deal. BTW, it was $110 when I bought it and the one in the link is only $64 but I'm pretty sure it's the same one.
Just use some locktite. If someone just wants to be a jerk, it would be too difficult for them to get it off. If they really want it, they would have to have a leverage tool and it would still be a pain for them to get it.

Hey, Thanks for going to all the trouble. I did know where it went, but now I have actually seen what it looks like installed. Thanks again. And, incidentally, I can see why nobody has it installed. Personally, it wouldnt take me long to bang my let into it.
gets in the way.
Good/Bad news. I bought a Deluxe Tow Hook a while back through OutMotoring.com. I love the way it looks, and I found it to be a good, sporty little touch up to the over all look of the front end. I plan to get the Alta Light Bar for Christmas, so I'm not sure how accessible the hook will be from then on. I got a lot of crap from the guys at work about the bad luck a permanently affixed tow hook would cause. Friday, my car broke down ( dealership hasn't told me why yet) and I am pleased to say that regardless of the karma it may have had, the tow hook was a very good and practical purchase. The truck driver told me it was also much easier to get his clip on and off of than the stock one.
Does anyone have a Moss tow hook that is rusting? Pretty much all of the unpainted surfaces on mine are rusting. It has only been on the car a little over a week!
Any suggestions on how to clean the rust off and keep it off?

Wow, great looking car. I normally don't like black but it really works on this car.
Anyone know which front lip he's running (The owner appears to have gone MIA)?

"Show me your towhooks"
Reminds me of that Larry the Cable Guy bit: "My sister got one of 'em belly rings, she showed it too me and asked what I thought and I said to her, 'good, finally we got something to pull you away from the buffet line!'"

Anybody know what size socket to use to install the hook (e-bay/mossmini/outmotoring type)? 3/4"? I used an adjustable wrench at first, but I couldn't fit it in all the way (wow, that's never happened before). I'm worried about forcing it further, lest the wrench slip and damage the bumper.
Great posts guys! Now I want one!!
Well it sounds like a"thinly disguised" critisism making behind a "light hearted" question(s).
Simple. Wheels, suspension, driving/fog lamps or some other gizmo is there to promote individuality. Same reason one buys (partly) a MINI in the first place.
After all road vehicles essentially do the same thing. Start, move (hopefully) and get you to point B. Gee, we don't need automatic A/C, cup holders, Satellite radio or nifty floor mats either.
At least the tow hook has a funtion that can come in handy. Simply if you should ever break down and Cleatus shows up and starts to place tow chains/straps on your suspension arms he may spot the hook or you can easily inform him/her that the offending yet necessay chain/strap attaches to these points. Hence the reason they are there in the first place. 2nd get a neat looking hook and it looks great. If people ask they get an answer. Most I found figure it out on their own. And yes my hook happens to be in the horizontal position right now. Sometimes I fold it. And no....it's not a MINI hook. Same threads. It's for a BMW. BUT now Moss sells a varient of it.
