I like the big speedo! It makes the interior unique, and is 100% MINI. My one wish is that it were tilted towards the driver a little to make it easier to read. In all honesty don't use the speedo, I use the tach for the speedo read-out

and as far as the nav goes, I bought a garmin to stick to my window for way less than the built in system. But that is my priority, not everybody's.

I have an '02...I like the big speedo and have long since gotten used to it, tho' you're right about the tach...I use it too.The speedo's the 1st thing non-MINI owners notice when they look inside the car.

I love my speedo also! It really does draw attention to the car. Although people always tell me I should never get a speeding ticket b/c its so big (obviously they dont know how quick the car is!). To each his own though if you don't like it then you don't like it. I never use it for the speed, although I am trying to learn to! Then again I forget to use the steering wheel controls for the radio also!

If it makes you feel better, I don't like the huge speedometer, either. I also don't like trying to read posts that are all in caps, either.

Sincere4l, no you did not make a good point there, and I will leave it at that. The reason people post about caps lock is because it is proper neticate to not use caps lock in forum posts as it is an indication of shouting. If you have poor eyesight and need to see things in a larger font, then adjust your browser or lower the resolution on your monitor. Reading in all caps is just plain annoying regardless if it is on the monitor or in print. not to mention it's an indication of not paying attention in language classes when they teach you how to properly punctuate and set case properly.

That said, yes the speedo is large on the MINI, it's a MINI the original had a large speedo in the center of the instrument panel too. This is part of the fun of being in the MINI ownership crowd, enjoying something a bit unique in the world of boring cars.

methinks you're right, Ht...maybe13..14 years old?

I love the fact that most of your mail gets filed as SPAM and you probably don't understand why people never respond.

Locking the thread for this reason.

RESPECT
When posting, both members and vendors must ALWAYS be respectful of fellow members and vendors. Personal attacks, trolling/baiting, deliberate antagonizing, and flaming will not be tolerated. If you feel you are being attacked, report the post or private message rather than replying or flaming back. However, do not use the report bad post feature to "cry wolf" when you are in fact the instigator of the demise of a discussion. Doing so will result in an infraction or strike

lol. An amusing thread with lessons to be learned.
-true, some like the speedo some do not. Some like to 'try new things' with their spouse, some do not.

But if the ridiculous speedo wasn't there, heritage wouldn't be either
HOWEVER, (haha)
I did find it hilarious AND extremely unecessary that MINI made the speedo EVEN BIGGER! hahaha...
and that's sort of yelling.. but in a funny non-mean way 0

A strike has been issued to SINCERE4L for his racist comment. I'm all for supporting a fellow MINI enthusiast. However, the site guidelines need to be observed so that it doesn't turn into a shouting match and personal insults. This is a new one for me however, adding racism into the picture...a new twist on Godwin's Law (click here for the definition).
